When we are learning a new language, it’s essential to immerse ourselves in it. This helps us learn new vocabulary, expressions, among other things. However, it’s no secret how challenging it can be to remember everything, especially when it comes to communication. That’s why it’s important to have useful resources to enhance and complement your learning. In this case, I’m going to tell you about the top 5 apps for learning Spanish.

✅ Duolingo

First and foremost, because I’m almost certain that many of you know it and have used it at least once – myself included. It’s a comprehensive app where you can practice different languages. On its platform, there are a series of short lessons with visual content and exercises, which are divided into modules. If you complete them correctly, you can advance to the next level.

Practice is dynamic, and new words appear in the same exercises, ranging from completion, translation, listening to audio, and even writing sentences. It also has a series of challenges and open forums with other people, making it a great tool to quickly learn basic expressions in Spanish.

✅ Anki

Its name in Japanese means memorization, and it’s ideal if you like the flashcard method. It consists of a series of cards with questions that you can mark as correct or not. This is done to show you the cards you have difficulty with while going through the corresponding round. Anki can be used for different things, but in the case of practicing Spanish, it works well for remembering vocabulary, expressions, and grammar exercises.

✅ HiNative

With this app, you can communicate with natives and clarify many doubts, as they have standard templates for quickly asking what a word means, how to say it, and examples of how to use a word in Spanish. You can also request information about a specific country if you plan to travel there. The answers or corrections you receive can be in writing or in audio, and you can also send direct photos. It’s very similar to other instant messaging apps like WhatsApp. The best part is that it’s very easy and intuitive to use.

✅ Memrise

It has some similarities with Duolingo because it offers short lessons, and you can learn a lot of vocabulary. Another similarity is that you can compete with friends. The app itself provides you with video clips of native speakers, which are very useful for practicing your listening comprehension. The courses are diverse, as are the phrases. Overall, the explanatory content is engaging.

✅ Busuu

Unlike other apps, this one offers more comprehensive grammar structures that can help you whether you’re a beginner or intermediate in learning Spanish. It includes images, audio, and provides resources to understand texts. It has more benefits, but the downside is that to enjoy them, you need the paid version. However, this is a common feature in many apps in general.

I’ve told you about the benefits of these apps and the various uses you can give them to quickly improve your Spanish. However, it’s important to note that they also have their drawbacks, such as their lack of practicality for intermediate/advanced learners and the fact that their grammar explanations are not very complex.

In general, apps are a great tool and are very helpful in complementing learning, but they don’t replace personalized classes with a tutor or provide exposure to other relevant aspects of the language.

So, we look forward to seeing you at WorldsAcross, where you can discover the best way to learn Spanish.
