This site asks before it loads anything that is not strictly necessary, and declining takes one click. Here is exactly what each thing is, and how to change your mind later.
What we do before you choose
Nothing except remember whether you have answered. Analytics, the chat window and advertising measurement are not loaded, not initialised, and set no cookies until you say so — and you can accept some and refuse others. If you decline, or ignore the banner entirely, none of them ever load: the site works, you can read every page and start a trial, and we simply learn nothing about your visit.
Withdrawing later takes effect on your next page view. A script that has already run in the tab you are in cannot be un-run, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise.
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the site to work or to honour a choice you made. They do not require consent, because without them we could not do what you asked.
Analytics — only if you accept
We use these to see which pages people read and where the site loses them. They tell us about pages, not about people we could pick out of a crowd.
Functionality — only if you accept
The chat window. If you accept and then open it, it needs to remember the conversation so your question does not vanish when you change page.
Marketing — only if you accept
If you accept marketing cookies, we use them to measure whether our advertising works — whether someone who saw an ad went on to start a trial — and to avoid showing ads to people who have already joined.
Nothing in this category is running yet. The category exists because we are adding advertising measurement shortly, and asking you now means we never have to treat an answer you gave about something else as permission for this. Anyone who answered before this category existed is asked again rather than opted in.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it so another company can advertise its own products to you.
Changing your mind
Whatever you chose, you can change it here. Turning something on takes effect straight away; turning it off stops it loading from your next page view, for the reason given at the top of this page.
You can also clear cookies in your browser settings, though that is a blunter tool — it will sign you out of other sites too.
