Privacy Policy
WorldsAcross LLC operates worldsacross.com, where you can take live Spanish classes with native tutors. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who is responsible for your data
WorldsAcross LLC is the data controller for the information described here. For anything on this page — a question, a request, or a complaint — write to info@worldsacross.com and a person will answer you.
What we collect, and why
We try to collect the least we can. In practice that falls into three groups.
| What | Why we have it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone number | To create your account, to teach you, and to contact you about your classes. | Performance of a contract |
| Payment details | To take payment. Card numbers are handled by our payment processor and never reach our servers. | Performance of a contract |
| Class history, notes your tutor writes, and your progress | So the next class starts where the last one ended, and so a coach can see what to work on. | Performance of a contract |
| IP address, browser, pages visited, time spent | To understand which pages people read and where the site confuses them. | Consent — nothing is collected until you accept |
| Chat messages you send us | To answer your question. | Consent — the chat does not load until you accept |
| Whether you arrived from one of our ads | To know which advertising is worth paying for. Not running yet. | Consent — only if you accept the marketing category |
We do not sell your personal information. We are adding advertising measurement shortly — cookies that tell us whether someone who saw an ad went on to start a trial — and it will only ever run for people who accepted the marketing category. Even then, we do not share your data so that another company can advertise its own products to you.
Cookies
The site asks before it loads anything that is not strictly necessary, and declining is one click. What each category is for and how long it lasts is set out on the cookie policy.
Who processes your data
A small number of companies process data on our behalf: analytics and advertising-measurement providers, a live chat provider, hosting providers, and a payment processor. They may only use your data to do the job we hired them for — never for their own purposes, and never to market to you. Some are outside the European Economic Area, and where that is the case the transfer relies on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. If you want to know exactly who they are, ask us at info@worldsacross.com and we will tell you.
How long we keep it
Account and class records are kept while you are a member and for the period afterwards that tax and accounting law requires of us. Analytics data is kept in a form that identifies you for no more than twenty-four months. Chat transcripts are kept for as long as needed to resolve your question and any follow-up to it. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete what we are not legally required to keep.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of the following, and we will answer within one month:
- Send you a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your data, where we are not required to keep it.
- Send your data to you or to another provider in a portable format.
- Stop or limit a particular use of it.
- Withdraw your consent to analytics or chat at any time. It is as easy to withdraw as it was to give: the footer of every page reopens the cookie choice.
If you think we have got something wrong, tell us at info@worldsacross.com — and you always have the right to complain to your data protection authority instead.
Recordings and notes
We do not record classes. Your class with a tutor is not recorded, not transcribed and not kept as audio or video. That is the default and it is not something you have to ask for.
The exception is rare and it never happens quietly: a tutor or coach must ask you first, explain what the recording is for, and you have to agree. Without that, no recording is made. If one is made, it is never published or shared outside WorldsAcross without your written permission, only authorised staff can open it, and it is deleted the moment you withdraw consent.
Coaching is where notes are taken. In a coaching meeting — including Meet My Coach — your coach may use an AI notetaker to summarise what you discussed and draft your progress notes, which is how they keep track of where you are going between conversations. It runs only if you agree, your coach tells you before switching it on, and you can say no and still have the meeting. The full terms are in the Terms and Conditions.
Security
We use commercially accepted measures to protect your data, and payment card details never touch our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security — what we can promise is that we will tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.
Children
This service is not for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to info@worldsacross.com and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
Our pages sometimes link elsewhere. We do not control those sites and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page, and we will email members before any change that materially affects them takes effect.
